My Worst Nightmare: IL HB 1080

I have heard rumors, during the past couple of months, of a bill that, if passed, would allow Breed Specific Legislation in Illinois.

I live in Illinois.

For some reason, up until about ten minutes ago, I have put this thought in the back of my mind and I haven't really considered what it means. If passed, the city which my Pit Bull lives in could, if they choose, ban her or any other dog based on their breed.

Now, the bill has been re-reffered to the Rules Committee as of March 17th which is sort-of a good sign. Some say that a bill that has been re-reffered to the Rules Committee is a place where bills die. However, if there is enough support for the bill it could be moved to the house floor to be voted on. We cannot let this happen. Please, if you would, help by writing to the Rules Committee. Their contact info is below. Please be brief and polite with them.

  1. State Farms 2011 insurance claims and total money paid.

    California 527 $20.3 million
    Illinois 309 $10.0 million
    Texas 219 $5.1 million
    Florida 157 $5.1 million
    New York 133 $6.1 million

LOL 4 of the most populated states. And Illinois :) If they remove the line from the law, then insurance companies can discriminate.. And you will never even notice :D $$$$$$$

Its all about the money. Insurance companies want your money but they don't want to pay for Pit Attacks.
